4 days in Cambodia : Day 1 – The Horror of Air Asia

Wanted to post this a bit earlier, but I have been busy working on a few tenders ever since I came back from Cambodia. So much for the holiday mood. Its back to work! Grace gave me an idea to post my Cambodia’s experience by phases …. hehe…Thanks Grace! Check our her little adventures here, they took so much more photos than us!

Overall, I had much more fun in Cambodia than I expected. I initially thought it would be kinda boring, after all its mostly just temples (I am not really a temple person). But to my nice surprise, the temples (or ruins) were really incredible. You can really close your eyes and imagine what it’s like thousands of years ago. I didn’t quite enjoy some of the temples as it was too crowded. And honestly, I sorta got confused on which temples that we actually visited. There were just too many of them!

Day 1 – The Horror of Air Asia

Let’s go back on the first day, Air Asia made it hell for us. I woke up at 6:00am, got ready and got to LCCT by 8:00am to check in for the 10:00am flight (Thanks Mr Rock for sending me to LCCT!).

To our despair, the Air Asia staff told us that out flight have been delayed for 3 hours to 1:30pm due to ‘technical’ problems. Instead of apologizing, the Air Asia staff was very rude. LiSzu gave them a piece of her mind and told them that it is not the way to speak to their customers.

Well Done LiSzu!

So we were stuck in the LCCT with absolutely nothing to do for almost 6 hours before the flight finally took off at 2:00pm. Wasted a whole half day that could have been spent exploring Cambodia!

The hotel pickup service was waiting for us at the Cambodia airport. He offered to bring us around Siem Reap for the next few days, but we have already made prior arrangements to use Mr Rock’s Tour Guide. The guy was really disappointed and we felt kinda bad for him.

After checking into our hotel and calling our Tour Guide, Mr Lyfath, we rewarded ourselves for the long wait by having some beef satay and roast beef, recommended by Mr Rock. It was absolutely delicious! The best satay any of us have ever tasted! A MUST try roadside cuisine in Siem Reap. As for the roast beef, due to communication problem, the beef only arrived 30 minutes later.

As we were running a bit late for sunset, Lyfath gave us a roller coaster drive to Angkor Wat. I had to hold on to our seatbelt. We then went to buy the Angkor Wat passes (we bought just 1 day pass as we are not sure that we wanna see temples for the whole 3 days) and visited Angkor Wat for sunset. It was just way too crowded for us to enjoy ourselves. And it was too cloudy for us to have a nice view of the sunset.

Lyfath then dropped us at the Old Market for some shopping and we then moved on to Blue Pumpkin (also recommended by Mr Rock) for dinner. The food was so-so only (Satay still the best!). After dinner we went back to the hotel to shower and slept early to get enough rest for the sunrise tomorrow.

Dogs of Cambodia

After 4 catfur-free days, I am finally back, surrounded by cat fur again. Pepper was the first to come greet me, as usual, asking for a cuddle. Garlic and Sesame looked at me with sleepy eyes and Ginger is no where to be seen. Cats! I do not think they noticed that I am gone for 4 days. Only Winter was absolutely thrilled to see me.

I managed to snap some pictures of the dogs of Cambodia. Like the people in Cambodia, they lead a harsh life. But in a way, they are luckier than most dogs in Malaysia. Almost every house you see has at least 1 dog. There are even houses as small as half of the size of my bedroom, and yet they still own a dog. Our tour guide said he has 5 dogs. People in Cambodia treat the dogs well. They do not kick the dogs or shoo them away even when the dogs come into the shop to beg for food. Cats, however, are nowhere to be seen. Maybe there are just too many dogs walking on the street.

My Little Green Friend

Sesame has found a new friend, the Little Green Alien, a gift from Andrew last Christmas. So far, Sesame has been pretty gentle with his Little Green friend. Not having any siblings to pay with, he is pretty attached to human. He loves to play with the human hand and pretends that your hand is another kitten. But be careful, he can be over-excited and leaves some tiny scratches on your hand if you are not careful.

Time sure flies, from he is now 3.5 months old. I wonder how heavy he is now.

Professional Body Remover

Note: This post consists of picture of dead animal.

After 1 month, the Professional Body Remover is called for her services again.

“Professional Killer calling Body Remover. One enemy is identified and terminated. Body is big and fat, either very well-fed or even pregnant. To dispose off immediately. Over and out.”

This is the 2^nd body this week. The first body was small and thin. Second was bigger and fatter. Since I am a trained Professional Body Remover, size does not really matter (anything bigger than the Spice cats are excluded). I still remember my first job. My hand was shaking, I didn't even dare to look at the body directly. Removal was done with 2 layers of plastic bag, and was done as fast as I can to get it over with. Now, after more than 10 jobs, I even stopped to take photos, picked up the body with just 1 layer of plastic bag and examined the body. It looked fresh, no blood seen. Well done again, Dog Spice.

Loving Puppy in need of a good home urgently

Please give Poppy a new home. She is a sweet loving puppy of about 8 months old. She was a street puppy that was taken in by a kindly elderly lady, who now sadly cant take care of her. My friend is currently fostering her in Bangsar. She was probably dump by her owner and very stressed previously which led to her losing a bit of fur. Her fur is now growing through and she has lovely light brown spots all over her fluffy white fur (as well as a big brown patch on top of her back which the photos don’t show)

She is now a happy dog, who never stops wagging her tail.

House trained

Down
Stay
Come
No.
Paw.

She understands boundaries in the house (i.e no going upstairs, no going in the kitchen). She really is a lovely dog who deserves a good home.

She is free to a good home - but we would prefer if possible to have her spayed and vaccinated before going to a home so this fee would be chargeable (at a very reduced rate).

What’s the noisy thing around my neck?

I took Pepper’s Pink Safe Cat Collar and put it on Sesame yesterday. At first, he did not seem to be aware of it until he started moving around and the bell started making a lot of noise. He then tried to catch the bell around his neck with his 2 front paws, and then he tried to paw the collar off. He was stumbling all over the place and trying different position to get hold of the noisy bell. It was quite funny.

After awhile, he finally got used to the noisy little bell around his collar. Last night, in my room, I could still hear the bell from the living room. Maybe I should remove the bell until Sesame gets older. Being a hyper-active kitten, he makes so much noise! This morning, he greets me outside my room, wearing the collar proudly around his neck.

I need to get a new Safe Cat Collar. Although pink looks really great on Sesame, but he is after all a boy. Will need to get a not so girlish color. Maybe bright light blue....or maybe even yellow.

Cats Taste for Food

Cats are such picky eaters. Yesterday, I opened a new can of Cat’s Choice Seafood Basket. Never bought this brand before but someone told me it’s quite good so I thought I’ll give it a try. As usual, I only poured half a can into the cat bowl and keep the other half in the fridge for the next day. Then I added some Omega-3 and Omega-5 powder into the food and stirred it. The Spice Cats were eagerly waiting at my feet, looking at me preparing their dinner.

I placed their bowls at their usual eating place. Garlic and Pepper smelled the food and just walked away. Ginger and Sesame seemed to be enjoying the food and started munching away. Ginger, being a perfect lady, ate politely and kept her food in the bowl. Sesame, being a small boy, ate clumsily and spilled his food all over the floor.

After seeing Ginger and Sesame enjoying themselves, Garlic decided to give it a 2^nd try. He came, smelled and decided to eat some of the food. Pepper on the other hand, refused to touch it at all. Pepper has funny taste in food, she loves the blended vegetables and chicken that I feed Winter. But she gets diarrhea if she eats too much vegetables. So I avoid feeding her too much vegetable.

Cats! I now need to have a spreadsheet to record down which brand and which flavor that each of them like and dislike. You see… its not just the brand or the flavor. All the Spice Cats do not like Snappy Tom Tuna but loves Whiskas Tuna for Kitten. I guess different brand of Tuna taste different, just like the Canned Tuna for human. Feeding Winter is much simpler, she loves everything, except for her regular dry dog food.

Eukanuba / Pet-n-You Dog Carnival

It was a hot sunny Sunday when I reached Central Park at 9:00am for the Eukanuba / Pet-n-You Dog Carnival. I said to myself, “Wow! The weather’s great!”. It is, if you compared it to the last Central park event where it was raining. There were also a lot more four-legged friends as compared to the last event.

I went straight to the SPCA booth and was delighted to find that there is even fan in the canopy! This is going to be a great day! As there are about 5 other volunteers there, I took time off and wondered around, looking at other dogs. Didn’t snap as much photos as the last time, but I did manage to snap some photos of some Celebrity Dogs! From the moment they entered into the field, they were surrounded by people with cameras. It was tough getting close to those Celebrity Dogs, so I just use the Zoom on my camera to snap some photos of them.

I left at about 1:30pm to rush for a gathering at Alind’s house. There were still a lot of people there. I bought SPCA 2007 calendar (mainly because Hera, Spike and Daisy look absolutely gorgeous in the calendar) and a new harness for Winter (10% discount). Also took some pamphlets for the Obedience Training in Subang Jaya. I am now considering bringing Winter there this coming Sunday, hoping to socialize her so that I can bring her to the next doggie events!

Weekend Feast

Winter had a feast last weekend. Started on Saturday morning when my mom bought 3 huge pork knuckles from the wet market. So Winter had 1 huge half knuckles for breakfast. Then Sonia came and brought Winter 2 chewable bones that help cleans her teeth. Winter had that for tea. Then dinner it was lamb chop with blended vegetables.

On Sunday morning, Winter had another half of the pork knuckles for breakfast, pork knuckles soup for tea. Then dinner it was lamb chop with blended vegetables again, together with some leftovers cat food.

Winter must be wondering what the occasion is, normally it is just her normal boring Dry Dog Food. From now on, I try to feed Winter blended vegetables at least every weekend. And bones too! It is suppose to be good for her!

This weekend will be another feast......

Yummy Pork Knuckles that can be cut into 6 portions. Winter get both the knuckles and the soup.
