The Little Princess is Not Feeling Well

Ginger has not been talking to me since her bath day last Saturday. This is pretty common. She normally will stay angry for 3-4 days after her bath. But it is unusual for her not to come during dinner time. She loves the wet food I feed her everyday and is normally the first to come for dinner. But for the past 1 week, she has been hiding behind the curtains.

This morning, when I saw her struggling slightly to climb up the stairs, I took her to the vet immediately. She doesn't have a fever, her temparature is normal. The vet then did a simple blood test, everything looks normal. Maybe she is just moody, or maybe she is coming down with an infection. The vet gave her an antibiotic shot, a multi-vitamin tablet and 3 days worth of medication. If her condition doesn't improve in 3 days, I am supposed to bring her back to the vet again for a full blood test.

I hope her condition improves. I miss her company in my bedroom at night.

Oh, that's sad ! It's a pity they can't talk and tell us what happens. Probably she will feel better now with the shots. Maybe she catched a little cold during the bath.

Poor little Ginger. Have you given her any furball medicine? With that long coat she might just have tummy trouble because of that. And it doesn't show up on blood tests or x-rays!

Cross fingers Ginger feels better soon.

Bless Ginger's heart; I hope she comes sneaking into your bedroom tonight.

Poor pumpkin. I was horrified when Webster suddenly started hiding from me. He was sick and took some medicine for a few weeks and is now all better. It just breaks the heart, doesn't it. Lots of love and purring from Webster and King.

Ginger's condition hasnt improve. She is on antibiotik and multi-vitamins now. I checked her again this morning, the color of her nose is fine and it is moist. But she is still so moody. Not sure whether she has been eating.

If her condition still doesnt improve in the next 2 days, I'll bring her to the vet again.

Katztales, can the furball medicine be bought from the petshop?

Yes, furball medicine is available in vet shops and good animal food shops. It’s just a paraffin laxative that helps pass fur that’s swallowed. I give Scoop and Au tuna in oil which also works well - and I brush them daily to prevent furballs.
I have also heard of people making their own furball remedy from vaseline and brown sugar, but I don’t know how much to use etc.

Ginger is recovering. Last nite, she came during dinner time and ate her dinner! I was so happy. And when I carried her into my room after dinner, she was purring, meowing and demanding for a cuddle all the time. Back to her old self :)

Lyn, thanks for asking.

Katztales, thanks for telling me about the furball medication. It could be furball after all. I had to force fed her on Tuesday night as she wont eat it. Wednesday morning i saw a furball lying on the floor and by night time she was eating. Not 100% sure the furball is Ginger's, but am so glad she is fine now.

Thank goodness Ginger's all better now. Yeah, probably with all that thing or furball out of her stomach she feels all better :)

I'm glad to hear she's feeling better! Webster won't eat sometimes, and I know he has a furball when that happens. I put PetroMalt on his paw, he licks it off, and in a day or so he yarfs up a hairball and is back to his old self. Good stuff!
