Loving Puppy in need of a good home urgently

Please give Poppy a new home. She is a sweet loving puppy of about 8 months old. She was a street puppy that was taken in by a kindly elderly lady, who now sadly cant take care of her. My friend is currently fostering her in Bangsar. She was probably dump by her owner and very stressed previously which led to her losing a bit of fur. Her fur is now growing through and she has lovely light brown spots all over her fluffy white fur (as well as a big brown patch on top of her back which the photos don’t show)

She is now a happy dog, who never stops wagging her tail.

House trained
Basic trained including:
Sit
Down
Stay
Come
No.
Paw.

She understands boundaries in the house (i.e no going upstairs, no going in the kitchen). She really is a lovely dog who deserves a good home.

She is free to a good home - but we would prefer if possible to have her spayed and vaccinated before going to a home so this fee would be chargeable (at a very reduced rate).

What’s the noisy thing around my neck?

I took Pepper’s Pink Safe Cat Collar and put it on Sesame yesterday. At first, he did not seem to be aware of it until he started moving around and the bell started making a lot of noise. He then tried to catch the bell around his neck with his 2 front paws, and then he tried to paw the collar off. He was stumbling all over the place and trying different position to get hold of the noisy bell. It was quite funny.

After awhile, he finally got used to the noisy little bell around his collar. Last night, in my room, I could still hear the bell from the living room. Maybe I should remove the bell until Sesame gets older. Being a hyper-active kitten, he makes so much noise! This morning, he greets me outside my room, wearing the collar proudly around his neck.

I need to get a new Safe Cat Collar. Although pink looks really great on Sesame, but he is after all a boy. Will need to get a not so girlish color. Maybe bright light blue....or maybe even yellow.

Trying to get hold of the noisy bell, until he almost fell off the sofa. Mmmm.... you can't see his pink collar in this photo.

That was me, trying to distract Sesame from the Safe Cat Collar.
"Look at the lizard!"
"Where? Where?"

You lied! Now get this noisy little thing off me!

Pepper came to check what is the fuss about.

Aiyah! Its just a collar, not worth my time.

Cats Taste for Food

Cats are such picky eaters. Yesterday, I opened a new can of Cat’s Choice Seafood Basket. Never bought this brand before but someone told me it’s quite good so I thought I’ll give it a try. As usual, I only poured half a can into the cat bowl and keep the other half in the fridge for the next day. Then I added some Omega-3 and Omega-5 powder into the food and stirred it. The Spice Cats were eagerly waiting at my feet, looking at me preparing their dinner.

I placed their bowls at their usual eating place. Garlic and Pepper smelled the food and just walked away. Ginger and Sesame seemed to be enjoying the food and started munching away. Ginger, being a perfect lady, ate politely and kept her food in the bowl. Sesame, being a small boy, ate clumsily and spilled his food all over the floor.

After seeing Ginger and Sesame enjoying themselves, Garlic decided to give it a 2nd try. He came, smelled and decided to eat some of the food. Pepper on the other hand, refused to touch it at all. Pepper has funny taste in food, she loves the blended vegetables and chicken that I feed Winter. But she gets diarrhea if she eats too much vegetables. So I avoid feeding her too much vegetable.

Cats! I now need to have a spreadsheet to record down which brand and which flavor that each of them like and dislike. You see… its not just the brand or the flavor. All the Spice Cats do not like Snappy Tom Tuna but loves Whiskas Tuna for Kitten. I guess different brand of Tuna taste different, just like the Canned Tuna for human. Feeding Winter is much simpler, she loves everything, except for her regular dry dog food.

Ginger, eating like a perfect lady.

Sesame, the small boy eating from the floor!

It really looks like they are enjoying theirselves. Should I give it a try?

Mmm....its not bad after all, but its not delicious either.... Well, its better than nothing!

Not even a bit interested....

Nope, I am not eating those things you put in the bowl.

Eukanuba / Pet-n-You Dog Carnival

It was a hot sunny Sunday when I reached Central Park at 9:00am for the Eukanuba / Pet-n-You Dog Carnival. I said to myself, “Wow! The weather’s great!”. It is, if you compared it to the last Central park event where it was raining. There were also a lot more four-legged friends as compared to the last event.

I went straight to the SPCA booth and was delighted to find that there is even fan in the canopy! This is going to be a great day! As there are about 5 other volunteers there, I took time off and wondered around, looking at other dogs. Didn’t snap as much photos as the last time, but I did manage to snap some photos of some Celebrity Dogs! From the moment they entered into the field, they were surrounded by people with cameras. It was tough getting close to those Celebrity Dogs, so I just use the Zoom on my camera to snap some photos of them.

I left at about 1:30pm to rush for a gathering at Alind’s house. There were still a lot of people there. I bought SPCA 2007 calendar (mainly because Hera, Spike and Daisy look absolutely gorgeous in the calendar) and a new harness for Winter (10% discount). Also took some pamphlets for the Obedience Training in Subang Jaya. I am now considering bringing Winter there this coming Sunday, hoping to socialize her so that I can bring her to the next doggie events!

A top-class Celebrity Dog. You hardly see one like this in Malaysia.

Another top-class Celebrity Dog. Looks like an over-grown poodle!

They are from the same owner. And they are HUGE!

Another huge dog. A one-of-a-kind Great Dane.

Two more Great Danes.

A gorgeous almost all-black German Shephard.

And an amazing police dog too!

You wouldn't want to upset him at all!

Eeerrr....a not-so-celebrity dog, with a celebrity name..... GUCCI!

Gucci is not the typical beagle. She is a round beagle! She definately needs more exercise.

Weekend Feast

Winter had a feast last weekend. Started on Saturday morning when my mom bought 3 huge pork knuckles from the wet market. So Winter had 1 huge half knuckles for breakfast. Then Sonia came and brought Winter 2 chewable bones that help cleans her teeth. Winter had that for tea. Then dinner it was lamb chop with blended vegetables.

On Sunday morning, Winter had another half of the pork knuckles for breakfast, pork knuckles soup for tea. Then dinner it was lamb chop with blended vegetables again, together with some leftovers cat food.

Winter must be wondering what the occasion is, normally it is just her normal boring Dry Dog Food. From now on, I try to feed Winter blended vegetables at least every weekend. And bones too! It is suppose to be good for her!

This weekend will be another feast......

Yummy Pork Knuckles that can be cut into 6 portions. Winter get both the knuckles and the soup.

Healthy fresh Vegetables and Carrots, ready to be blended.

Lambs cut into small pieces to be added into the blended vegetables and carrots.

Yeay! Blended Vegetables and Lamb! Doesn't look too yummy huh? But it supposed to be good and Winter loves it.

More food? Pretty please?

Cockroach Alert!

There is cockroach in my room! I was burning some CDs when I saw it flying beside my computer. YES, it was FLYING! I quickly ran downstairs and grabbed my Sheltox. One spray at the little bugger and it did the trick. Urrgghh! How I hate cockroaches.

Ginger, who was in my room at that time, sat beside it for a long time, just looking at it, probably thinking whether it is safe to touch it. As I have just sprayed it, I told Ginger not to go near it. I do not want her to get poisoned too! Ginger, being an obedient sweet little princess, just sat and observed the cockroach until it finally stopped moving, and I picked it up and flushed it down the toilet bowl.

The thing is moving but mom wont let me go near it!

I better make sure it won't get away.

It's still moving..... but not going anywhere....

I think it stopped moving but I am not letting it out of my sight!

Cruel Killing of 13 Dogs, Shot to Death by the Malaysian (Seremban) Municipal Council!

Recently, I have heard a lot of horror stories about the shooting of dogs in public. Recently in October, there was a shooting of a dog in a school compound that traumatized the students. It was said that the Ipoh Town Council officers went to a school and shot a harmless dog, sleeping behind the toilet. They did not kill the dog on the first shot and it was wailing in pain. Instead they used a meat hook on the live dog to carry it away.

The a few months ago, there was a cruel shooting of 13 dogs in owner’s compound. Anyone who have seen the photos could imagine the trauma the owner went (and still going) through to have 13 loved dogs shot dead in his own house. Today, as I was paying my weekly visit to Remembering Shena Blog , I came across the below petition

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/947146655?ltl=1162877733

I urge everyone who thinks that this is wrong and thinks that animals should be treated with respect, please sign the petition.

A tiring long weekend…..

Brought Sesame to the vet for his vaccination booster and deworming on Saturday. Found that he had ear mites again! It was gone the last time and now it came back! So he is back on ear medication everyday. The rest of the Spice Cats will go on the medication twice a week, for prevention.

After the vaccination, Sesame had fever for 2 days, slept most of the time and did not have any mood to play. At least this time he did not vomited.

As for me….almost the whole of Sunday was spent sleeping. Waking up at 5:45am in the morning on a Sunday to get ready for the 10km Subang Jaya run is just torturing. After the loooooonnnnnggg run and brunch, I came back home and slept from 11:30am to 4:00pm! And this morning, my legs are so sore that I could hardly walk. This is going to be a long torturing day.

Well, at least Sesame is back to his normal self this morning, chasing after my leg everywhere I go, making sure he left some fur sticking to my pants. It’s still nice to have him back.

Looking fresh after a long nap on a Sunday afternoon.

Sesame is starting to look like an adult cat, with his eyes slowly turning greyish yellow.

Yawn.... started to feel sleepy again.

This is how he spent his weekend.

Someone has been playing with water

I sometimes wonder why the water in the water bowl gets dirty so fast. Sometimes you will even see some fur floating in the water. I changed it, and 2 hours later it is dirty again. Last weekend, I finally caught the culprit!

Right after I changed the water in the water bowl, I caught Sesame putting his paw in the water bowl, took it out, licked it, and then put it back again! He then used this paw to dip into the water a few times, all this time looking at the water, probably fascinated by the movement and reflection. I wonder if he learnt this from the mother also, but I have not seen Pepper does this before.
